Whole Church

One of the most visible ways our church gathers is through our Sunday Services. You can find more information about them on this page. At times we also gather for Church Days.

In addition to Sundays, the church is present in many important moments of life, such as a blessing celebration for the birth of a child, weddings, and funerals.

The church also serves through diaconal work, for example through the Friendship Circle, as well as through mission work carried out by our missionaries.

With You in Life’s Seasons

The church is present in many different stages of life, such as a blessing celebration for the birth of a child, weddings, and funerals. For more information, please ask the staff team or contact us at office@lahenvapis.fi.

Diaconal Work and the Friendship Circle

There are situations in life when it may be difficult to participate in church gatherings. In such cases, you may request that Communion be brought to you.

Within the church, we create opportunities for those who long for friendship and those who wish to offer friendship to meet. We call this the Friendship Circle.

Within the church, we create opportunities for those who long for friendship and those who wish to offer friendship to meet. We call this the Friendship Circle. Friendship cannot be manufactured — it grows naturally. However, opportunities need to be created for it to begin.
Creating and maintaining new relationships can be challenging in certain seasons of life. On the other hand, life situations such as retirement may also create space and resources for new friendships. To ensure the conditions for a safe friendship, a volunteer friend signs a confidentiality agreement and completes the “Be a Friend” course.
A staff member acts as a contact person and facilitates introductions so that both individuals can explore whether a friendship might develop between them.

We cooperate locally with ViaDia Lahti ry, which carries out diaconal work.
The ViaDia movement is a diaconal organisation based on the values of the Evangelical Free Church of Finland. See further information in  Finnish here

Mission Work

Our church is involved in making it possible for the Good News to be shared all over the world. Through SVK Missio, we participate in Bible translation work and in encouraging and equipping young people through Youth With A Mission (YWAM).

Lahden Vapaaseurakunta publishes the magazine Lähetysasema. The magazine reports on mission work and especially shares news and prayer topics from our missionaries. It is available in Finnish. You can find magazines here.
